Mena Trip

We just made a visit down to the Grandparents house in Mena, AR. It turned out to be a very interesting visit. We arrived Thursday evening. Thursday night a tornado went through town...
For anyone who's followed the news I'm sure you've seen this picture, and many more like it. The girls had just gone to bed when the storm hit. The hail woke Tarabeth up, the phone ringing (auntie calling to warn of the tornado sirens) woke Brianna up. When the power went out Tarabeth innocently remarked "mommy! my eyes are broken!". Luckily Grandma and Grandpa were prepared with flashlights and oil lamps.
Grandma and Grandpa's place was spared (they live a ways out of town), and fortunately so was Auntie's place (she lives only blocks from where the tornado went through town). Sadly, many homes were completely distroyed and 3 people lost their lives. The lodge that Grandpa belongs to was completely leveled.
Our trip may have been marred by the tornado, but the clouds did clear.

Tarabeth enjoyed the outdoors around Grandma and Grandpa's house. As well as the liberty to run in and out without having mommy or daddy supervise her. She made fast friends with the dogs, and tried to with the cats, though they weren't as willing to be chased around.

Saturday was sunny and warm. The girls enjoyed the break from the cold - as did mommy.

Even though our visit wasn't entirely carefree, we enjoyed seeing the family. Living without electricity just added to the adventure...and made me appreciate it even more!
